JAKARTA - Nissan and Honda together with Mitsubishi Motors signed a memorandum of understanding to explore the possibility of Mitsubishi Motors' participation, involvement and synergy in business through the establishment of a joint holding company.

Previously, the agreement was built by Honda and Nissan on August 1, signaling the start of a strategic partnership to form a joint venture that focuses on electrification. Now, Mitsubishi is taking part in the partnership and has continued discussions. Responding to the agreement, Nissan CEO Makoto Uchida revealed the company and Honda have begun to consider business integration, and will study the creation of significant synergies between the two companies in various fields.

"It is also important for Nissan partners, Mitsubishi Motors, to be involved in this discussion. We anticipate that if this integration is successful, we will be able to provide greater value to a wider customer base," said Makoto Uchida, quoted from its official website, Tuesday, December 24.

On the same occasion, Honda Director and Representative Executive Officer Toshihiro Mibe, revealed that he hopes that Mitsubishi's involvement in this discussion will lead to further social changes, and prove that all three are able to become the leading companies in creating new values in mobility through business integration.

"Nissan and Honda will start discussions from today onwards with the aim of clarifying the possibility of business integration by the end of January in line with Mitsubishi Motor's considerations," said Toshihiro Mibe.

Mitsubishi Motors CEO Takao Kato said the study conducted by Nissan and Honda would accelerate the effect of synergy maximization and bring significant value to the company.

"In order to create synergies and make the best use of the strengths of each company, we will also review the best form of cooperation," said Takao Kato.
