JAKARTA - Paul McCartney revealed that he kept the Beatles' "last" song "now And Then a secret from the session player (lelf musician) who played on the song in the studio.

This song was released on November 2 yesterday following the release of a short film accompanying him entitled Now And Then The Last Beatles Song.

Now And Then comes from a tape demo recorded by the late John Lennon, and completed with the help of AI technology (artificial intelligence) which raised the songwriter's vocals from the initial recording.

McCartney and his former bandmate, Ringo Starr, then held a new demonstration in the studio with producer Jeff Lynne and stripy Martin, son of the late Beatles producer George Martin.

At one point in the short film, McCartney recalled the process of adding string arrangement into the single during a recording session at the famous Capitol Studios in Hollywood, California.

"Giles made arrangements like his father did in the past," he explained.

"We had to put the music on the stand for musicians, but we couldn't tell them it was Beatles' new song. It was all a bit secret. We pretended it was my song."

The 12-minute film also aired on the episode of The One Show on Friday night. After playing, the program spoke with violin player Charlie Bisharat who didn't know until the broadcast that he was working on the Beatles' "last" single.

"It's amazing to be a part of this project," he said. "At that time we didn't know what it was. Often we worked on projects, the project was fruitless or appeared years later or something like that.

"I've actually been looking for this song many times online, and I thought, 'What happened to the song? It was never released. A year and a half ago we recorded the strings.'

Bisharat who previously recorded music for Elton John, The Rolling Stones, and Lady Gaga explained that adding Beatles songs to his repertoars was the most fun'.

"Being a part of this is more than just an epic a dream for life," he said.

The short film Now And Then The Last Beatles Song was written and directed by Oliver Murray. You can watch it completely below.
