The Pop Group Vocalist Mark Stewart Dies

JAKARTA - Sad news has returned from the music industry. The vocalist of The Pop Group, Mark Stewart passed away on Friday, April 21, as announced by his official account.

"Mark is allied with Love. As Sufis say; there is no such thing as death, no one is going to die, but since death is so valuable, it has been hidden in the safe of fears," said Mark Stewart's statement.

Mark's family and friends respectfully asked for space in the midst of this difficult time, he said.

The family did not explain the reason for Mark Stewart's death. But on the other hand, various parties gave statements and respect to the vocalist.

I've known Mark as a friend for 40 years, since he became the vocalist of The Pop Group. I have had a lot of fond memories of him - some strange, partially scary, but always inspiring and having a reason, "said Daniel Miller, the former owner of the label that houses The Pop Group.

Mark Stewart was the founder and vocalist of The Pop Group in 1977. Together with Sager, John Waddington, Simon Underwood and Bruce Smith - they started their career by releasing their album Y in 1979.

In 1980, they decided to disband with a performance. Then they reunited in 2010 and continued their musical careers.

Stewart also collaborated with musicians such as Trent Reznor, Tricky, Massive Attack, Primary Scream, and others.

Not to forget he also has a solo career with nine albums, including Edit (2008), The Politics of Envy (2012), and VS (2022) which became his last work.

Born in August 1960, Mark Stewart died at the age of 62.
