JAKARTA - The surviving Soundgarden member and the late Chris Cornell's widow, Vicky, have settled their long-standing legal dispute and will release the band grunge's final recording.

In 2019, Vicky filed a lawsuit against the remaining band members and their manager over rights to some of Soundgarden's unreleased songs, claiming the song gave him "territions of thousands of dollars" royalties.

The case was finally resolved in early 2021 because the judge ruled that there was no evidence to suggest that the surviving band members were holding royalties from Vicky.

Elsewhere, Vicky filed a separate case in court against the band after they tried to buy her shares in her late husband's band at a price she called "very low".

Meanwhile, the band also brought Vicky to court in 2021, claiming that Vicky had locked them out of Soundgarden's official social media account.

Now, a joint statement from the band and Vicky reveals that their dispute has been resolved and "reached a peaceful resolution outside the court".

"Reconciliation marks a new partnership between the two parties, which will allow Soundgarden fans around the world to hear the last song the band and Chris are working on," they said via social media.

Both parties unite to encourage, respect, and build on the extraordinary Soundgarden heritage as well as Chris's undefined footprint in the history of music as one of the greatest songwriters and vocalists of all time.

Chris Cornell died of suicide on May 18, 2017. He is 52 years old. Last year, respect was given to Chris by Soundgarden, Rage Against The Machine, and Vicky to mark his fifth anniversary of his death.

Chris, five years we've missed you, you have love, you have peace, you have irreversibility. Love and peace for all Soundgarden brothers and sisters," the band wrote.

Last year, Vicky confirmed that the rights of asset holders Chris plans to release a volume of both cover albums that Chris recorded before his death.

According to Vicky, the collection that will come is mastered directly by her late husband. The release date has not been announced.
