Jaz Reveals Difficulty Music Becomes The Eye Of The Search At Brunei: January Gets A Job, Only April

JAKARTA - Soloist from Brunei, Jaz, is currently working on his third album which will be released in the near future.

According to Jaz to VOI, he will release another single after Eid al-Fitr as a bridge to his latest album.

"Now there is another stage of working on the third album, after Lebaran there will be one more single. Now I'm working with J. Yes, in percentage of 70 percent," said Jaz.

In the choice of theme, it is still related to romance. However, in nature, it will be worked on more maturely than the previous songs.

"Kalau kita lihat dari zaman Dari Mata, ya cinta-cintaan anak sebenarnya lah. Terus di album Transitisi itu sebenarnya lebih mature-nya. Jadi jual merahnya tetap sama. Cinta-cintanan tapi enggak dibuat'menye' lah," tambahnya.

Not only about characterization, but Jaz also feels the difference in the creative process from the Dari Mata era to the present.

"In the Dari Mata era, according to me, was the first process for me. Because I am from Brunei, so I don't know how Indonesians work yet. By writing songs, how to work on music, at first I didn't know. Then I didn't contribute much, so I just moved with a guitar, voice note, give anyone to make it," he explained.

"Now, because I understand a little, I'm also starting to discuss. For example, for the selection of musicians, like the last time I was J, Tohpati, it was from me.

"That's why I feel that in Indonesia this is my place of process. From the beginning until now," he added.

By taking a long journey in the Indonesian music scene, Jaz considers Indonesia the best place to become a musician compared to Brunei.

"In Indonesia, you can still earn money from art. But in Brunei it doesn't seem like it. Because the population is also small. And not competitive either. Anyone can become an artist there. You make recordings at home, radio can play immediately," he said.

"So I've tried full musicians in Brunei. And it's hard to get the money to eat, like in January I got a job singing at a wedding, then there's another April. Too far away," he concluded.
