JAKARTA - The National Collective Management Institute (LMKN) has prepared an online system for licensing the use of copyright that other parties use for commercial purposes that can be accessed on the www.imknlisence.id page.

The page was created to make it easier for song creation users, in this case, performers to get licenses that are fast, precise, automatic, as well as paperless.

Songwriters and the public can directly monitor. Through this system, we hope that it can be a prerequisite for the police regarding crowd permits. Thus everything will be well organized," said LMKN Chairman Dharma Oratmangun after a public discussion on song and music royalties in Jakarta, Thursday, quoted from Antara.

Dharma said this monitoring mechanism had gone through a discussion process with a number of relevant stakeholders including the Indonesian Artist Managers Association (IMARINDO), the Backstagers event organizing community, the Indonesian Music Promoter Association (APMI) and many other communities who asked LMKN to change the manual licensing system to online.

"LMKN is trying to move forward step by step to provide the principle of transparency and speed as well as accuracy to users and copyright owners of performers," Dharma explained.

The page www.imknlisensi.id provides four main categories of activities related to licensing for the use of copyright, including seminars, exhibitions, bazaars, and concerts. It contains a commercial user data loading feature with a special id and usage database that can be released, including invoices and tax invoices and royalty calculations.

"The calculation is carried out separately, so it does not use the old pattern, which is collected first into one and then shared. Not like that, but from one activity it is directly divided among the creators whose songs are used," he explained.

In the www.imknlisensi.id system, incoming users will get data verification which is then saved automatically. After determining the category of options from the bazaar, seminar, concert, or exhibition, users are asked to fill in the column of what songs are used, who are the users and the executor. Once the data is filled in, then LMKN can issue performance and an agreement is issued.

If the user has fulfilled the obligation to pay payment, the LMKN will issue an invoice and paperless certificate that can be printed by the user as valid evidence.

"LMKN is also committed in terms of level agreement. So, users can directly monitor when the proposal comes in, what time, how many days the process will be completed," he explained.

Dharma further invited event organizers, songwriters, and musicians to register at the Collective Management Institute (LMK). This refers to legislation that states that in order to obtain royalties, copyright owners and related rights must give power to LMK who gather at LMKN to collect and distribute royalties one door.

"We hope that the presence of www.imknlisence.id will help copyright owners to exercise direct control, knowing exactly who the songs are performed by and where. This is not just a matter of money but of breeding copyright," said Dharma.
