About Nayl Called Less Beautiful Maia Sings Nirvana Song, Olitz Vondanoe Has A Different View

JAKARTA - Nayl Author has been eliminated from the 2023 Indonesian idol music talent search event. However, his name is still the talk of music fans because of his appearance which often reaps praise.

In the Spectar Show 7 last week, his performance performing Nirvana's song Smells Like Teen Spirit reaped a standing ovation from one of the judges, David Bayu.

However, Maia Estianty, who is another judge, asked former Naif personnel the reason for giving such appreciation.

"Mas David, try giving a comment what makes you stand up to see Nayl's performance?" asked Maia.

Hearing the question of the former Maia duo personnel, David answered.

"Entering Indonesian Idol performing Nirvana's songs is rare. I'm just expressive with the stage act (Nayl) which is crazy. vocally, it's also not just grunge, but combined with heavy metal. Why am I standing alone? Because his appearance is cool tonight," answered David.

However, Maia disagreed with David's praise for Nayl's performance.

"Well, it's not about songs," said Maia.

"Sori, tonight you just need to pass Nayl. You have to learn in your low notes to stabilize even more. Because I think this song can be brought even more beautiful," said Maia to Nayl.

Without further ado, David immediately asked about Maia's speech.

"Talk about beautiful grunge?" David said.

Then, Maia replied, if Steven Tyler (Aerosmith) who is an idol of Nayl is one of the singers who can perform a song to be beautiful.

"You can, he (Nayl) is a fan of Steven Tyler, I really salute Steven Tyler because he can make it really beautiful again," said Maia.

VOI is interested in asking for comment from one of the musicians who carries grunge music with his band, Alien Sick, Olitz Vondanoe.

Olitz said that Maia seems to be still carried away by her duo project so that she has different perspectives about the word 'indah'.

"It is possible that Maia was still carried away with her 'duo' in the past. That beautiful grunge must have colorful dancing," said Olitz.

In fact, he added, Nayl was actually able to get out of the shadow of Kurt Cobain (Nirvana vocalist) and was able to combine two types of music that were fairly frictional in his appearance at Indonesian Idol.

"The arrangement (of the song) is quite good. It can come out of the shadow of Kurt Cobain. It can even combine 80's hair metal and 90's grunge music," he continued.

"The band-band hair metal at that time, many were captivated by Nirvana's success and other grunge bands in the 90's era. Because, those who rely on genius chordal distortion and progression are minimally able to shift the complicated popularity of music with 'dandan' and lipstick. The point is Nayl is cool," he explained.
