Sum 41 Reveals Reasons For Canceling Appearance At Gudfest 2023

JAKARTA Sum 41 canceled its appearance at the 2023 Gudfest concert on March 19 in Jakarta due to contract and financial problems. The reason is, Gudlive as the promoter is considered to have failed in fulfilling this.

The news, which was reported by Facebook social media, caused disappointment from fans in Indonesia.

"For our fans in Jakarta," they opened.

"It is with great sadness that we announce that we will no longer appear at the Gudfest later this month because the festival promoter failed on a contract + financial basis for our approval, so it is impossible for us to be there."

Our number one priority is to always show the best shows for our fans and the promoter takes it from us. For this reason we have decided to completely leave the festival.

"This is not a decision we made easily. We appreciate your understanding and we hope we can fix it immediately for everyone," they ended.

Please note, apart from Sum 41, Gudlive also canceled events and a number of performers, namely NTRL, Summerlane, Rocket Rockers, Closehead, Stereo Wall, and Anarcute.

Organizers suspect that there is a threat from the masses that is feared to disrupt the course of the event.

As previously reported, three months since the cancellation of the 2022 Gudfest event, the refund return process has not gone well.

Gudfest 2022 was originally scheduled to be held on November 18-20 at Gelora Bung Karno Area. However, five days before the D day, Gudlive stated that the event was postponed until March 2023.

"The 2022 Gudfest will officially be postponed to March next year," reads Gudlive's official statement on their Instagram account on November 14. However, they did not specify the reason for the postponement of Gudfest 2022 and only mentioned that there were technical reasons that had not been met.

Disappointment of ticket buyers was unstoppable in flooding the Gudfest Instagram comment column. They asked the organizers to return the money that had been spent, according to ticket prices.

Not yet the refund process for the 2022 Gudfest has been completed, Gudlive uploaded a flyer for the second batch event scheduled for March 2023 with a different line-up. Sum 41 as the headliner, supported by NTRL and Summerlane as well as Rocket Rockers, Stereo Wall, and many others.

Now, the event has even been canceled.
