Two Moments That Inspired Barry Likumahuwa Against Bondan Prakoso

JAKARTA Every musician usually has an inspiration in his musical journey which is intended as a direction in his creative process. Likewise with one of the country's leading bassists, Barry Likumahuwa, who conveyed it on his personal Youtube channel some time ago. He was inspired by the figure of Bondan Prakoso.

Barry Likumahuwa admitted that he was frustrated by seeing the bass playing of the little singer who had performed the song Si Lumba-Lumba.

At that time I was playing the song Stone Cold Bush. In the past, I didn't play slap, just played finger. And when there was a part in the song that used a slap technique, my band friends forced me to learn the technique. "Yes, I've learned it. But it turned out that I had a hard time, until I was frustrated, "he opened the conversation.

"In the end, there was a moment when I remember you very well, when I was in a state of frustration, I couldn't play slap. As soon as I turned on the television at home, it turned out that I saw you playing the song Stone Cold Bush on TVRI and there you were really good. At that time I was immediately more frustrated and thought about giving up playing bass, "he continued.

Fortunately, this motivated him to learn even harder the slap technique he had complained about.

"I was so frustrated that I locked myself in my room. Then until I knocked on the door of my room with my mother. But fortunately, in the end, after seeing you, I learned even harder swimming techniques," explained Barry.

Even Bondan Prakoso, responded to Barry's words with a smile.

It didn't stop there, it turned out that the second time Bondan Prakoso had inspired his life again. This time, he got inspiration through Bondan Prakoso's second album, entitled Respect (2005).

"I have to talk about what it is. And. When I bought your 2005 album titled Respect, I expected me to get really bass sounds. Because this is my bassist's album. But as soon as I heard, it turns out that this is a music album whose initiator happens to be a bass player. Because this album you sing more. At that time I read the credit title too, I saw everything you did yourself. Starting from the guitar, programming, keyboard, bass," added Barry.

"I'm honest, maybe the impression is like that, but it turns out that it actually changed my mindset. And it became an inspiration for my own album. How can I produce an album from a bassist but still the glasses are musicians, namely promotion music, not just relying on bass. So I really salute you," he concluded.

Hearing the praise, Bondan added that the album was aimed at studying the creation of a wider music.

"Alhamdulillah, Bar. Indeed, in that phase, I call it the third phase in my musical career. My first phase as a child singer, my second as a bass player atranky Kopral. Now the third is with Fade2Black friends. And I learned a lot about music products, writing songs, too. That's why my bass portion was not as much as it used to be," said Bondan.
