JAKARTA - Dave Mustaine confirmed to Rolling Stone, former Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman will join them in their first show in Budokan, Tokyo later this month.Marty will perform on stage performing three songs during encore performances.

The Budokan concert, which will be broadcast live on February 27 and available on demand for the next few days, marks the first time in more than two decades Friedman has shared a stage with the American thrash metal giant.

"When Marty said, 'Hey, I can play in this show,' I thought, 'This is amazing,'" Dave told Rolling Stone.

"It's really fun to bring Kiko [Loureiro, the current guitarist of Megadeth] and Marty, because they are both geniuses in guitar. So it's like a very big birthday and Christmas gifts to me."

"We haven't been to Japan for a long time," Mustaine added. "I think inviting Marty is a very wise thing."

Similarly, Marty responded to his reunion with Megadeth as an extraordinary moment.

"It's been a long time - exactly 23 years since I've been on the same stage as Dave Mustaine making music," Marty said in a statement.

"We both took a very different path from then on. It didn't change the fact that I was very proud of the role I played in Megadeth's history and legacy. I'm also very, very proud of the great many things from this band. The achievements and success that have continued during my absence. For now, I'm just feeling great excitement and serious adrenaline. I'm looking forward to playing with Megadeth in this really cool place, Budokan."
