The Cahyadi Project became the screen for the Salihara Jazz Buzz 2023 on the second day, Sunday, February 5. The team was chosen to be the performers through an open invitation which was then selected by the curator team from the Salihara Community.

In addition to being a drummer, in his first appearance at the Salihara Community's annual jazz music festival, he brought a unique concept using odd numbers (3.5.7.11 and 13) in five compositions he played.

The first repertoire presented by Chayadi was entitled Three in One performed in a trio format, with Restha Wirananda (piano) and Ferdinand Chandra (contrabass).

Inspired by the number 3, the composition presented is dominated by 3/4 likes, although sometimes it turns to 4/4 and then back to 3/4.

In the next repertoire titled Lima, you try to explore with the braned barrel of Sundanese which is played on a diatonis tone ladder.

"Sundanese music is pentatonic, there are five tones (da, mi, na, ti, la), so I tried it in the song Five using the five notes. But in the process I tried to make it more modern," said Cahyadi after his appearance at the Salihara Community, South Jakarta.

Not only the use of pentatonic charts. This second repertoire is dominated by a 5/4 dose and is also played in quintet format, coupled with Cuban Skowronski and Arini Kumala (cello).

Continuing to the third repertoire in a quartet format (minus

The fourth repertoire is the most interesting in this time. Still in quintet format, Restha switched to playing keyboards, Ferdinand played the electric bass and Kiba played the tenor saxophone.

Playing his new composition, the Football Team, my head tried to show his observations of the football team through music. Like football played by eleven players, my son adopted the figure in a complicated 11/8 interval of tones and likes.

This composition has a complicated form of music and dynamics. Starting from solo drums, the composition continues to solo drums, keyboards and tenor saxophones simultaneously with bass as a setting, which is very distinctive from the repertoire of jazz music. Then, there are the unisons that are followed by rhythmic rhythms and discos.

I tried to make a vibe where people were excited to watch the ball. That's what I imagined when I made dynamics in this song," said Cahyadi about the composition he made.

In his last repertoire, my wife brought her work entitled Odd Even. This young composer divided the numbers 13 into the concept of appearing 7/8 and 6/8.

All performers returned to play like the format in the second repertoire, but coupled with Indra Perkasa (contrabass) as collaborators.

To close his appearance, I tried to explore with keroncong music. Starting from chordal progression, song melodies and flute techniques from Cuba Skowronski tried to dimit the typical Nusantara musical style, but of course with other, much more interesting variations.

Of the five repertoires displayed, Ganjil Genapdang is said to be the easiest to enjoy, especially for those who don't know jazz too well.

The unique and interesting repertoire concept displayed by the Cahyadi Project this time can be said to be the idea of continuing to look for new aesthetic forms in Indonesian music. This is in line with the Salihara Jazz Buzz which consistently features various famous and potential jazz musicians with various noveltys.
