Feelings Of Duran Duran Mixing When Inaugurated Into Rock Hall: Proud And Sad

JAKARTA - Simon Le Bon said Duran Duran's inauguration into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on November 5 brought mixed emotions. The reason is, the cancer suffered by former guitarist Andy Taylor prevented him from joining them for the ceremony.

In a recent interview with BBC Radio 2, the vocalist described 2022 as their best year since they reached the peak of their career in the 80s.

"It was an extraordinary moment of pride, but also sadness," Le Bon was quoted as saying by Ultimate Classic Rock, Monday, January 2.

"Andy Taylor, he's very unwell. And we are very sad that he couldn't be there to share with us," he continued.

Le Bon explained that after the ceremony, Duran Duran went to Ibiza to present Taylor the award.

"He's in very good condition, actually, like it happened," said Le Bon. "But you know, he has serious illness and he really can't go to LA. There's a lot of love between him and us."

The vocalist revealed that the ceremony was the first time he had met fellow Black Country citizens - an area in West Midlands County, England - Rob Halford.

"Rob is cool; Rob is a very good guy," he said. "Judas Priest, very good people, and happy to see them enter Rock Hall."

But Le Bon was even happier to meet Dolly Parton. "I have to sing!" she said. "He's much cooler in real life than he is on TV.... I'm so proud to have that moment."
