JAKARTA - The country's electric vehicle manufacturer, PT Champion Bike with the Selis trademark, recently announced a collaboration with Hyundai Kefico to develop a conversion line electric vehicle.

This collaboration is a form of Selis' support for the government's efforts to develop electric two-wheeled vehicles.

Edi Hanafiah Kwanto, as the President Director of Selis, said that the conversion step was in line with what the government had done to develop the domestic electric vehicle industry.

"Of course this conversion proves how Selis is a native product in Indonesia that is able to compete officially so that her business potential is very large to be developed in the future, and is fully supported by the Government," said Edi in his statement.

Edi also explained that in the electric motorcycle conversion program, the government provided assistance (subsidy) of Rp. 7 million which was distributed through conversion workshops to the public.

"If you have a certificate as an official workshop for installation, maintenance, and inspection of installation equipment for electric motor propulsion systems in motorized vehicles since February 2022 which has been officially issued by the Ministry of Transportation, the Directorate General of Land Transportation. In terms of Electric motor products, the selis has obtained two TKDN values for its 2 mainstay electric motors, namely Emax with a TKDN value of 53.69% and Agats with a TKDN value of 53.37%," added Edi.

With the collaboration between Selis and Hyundai Kefico, the two will develop a powertrain unit and conversion kit, where the two companies are targeting production of up to 60,000 units of conversion vehicles and support the government in reaching 200,000 units by 2024.
