JAKARTA - In the FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC), Porsche as a safety car supplier for the 2023 season will field two units of Porsche 992 Turbo S.

Quoted from Porsche's official website, Tuesday, March 14, the two safety cars received several changes according to the standards applied by the FIA.

In terms of exterior, changes to 992 Turbo S are the use of stickers and livery with a combination of black and red typical of Porsche. The car is also added to a siren that can be turned on during the safety car period.

In the interior itself, there is also a Recaro racing seat with six seat belts. To maintain performance and stability, there is a roll bar that is placed on the back of the front seat.

Porsche 992 Turbo S was not given any addition from the engine sector. This car still uses a 3,745 cc 6-cylinder engine with a twin-turbo line that can generate 641 dk of power and 800 Nm of torque.

This is the debut of the 992 model as a safety car after the previous season Porsche launched the 911 model as a safety car unit. However, the pattern or color embedded in 992 is the same as its predecessor's safety car and the resulting performance is also the same.

These two cars will play their role as a safety car in the first round of the 1000 Miles of Sebring series at the Sebring International Raceway, Florida, United States on March 17.

Interestingly, Indonesian racer Sean Gelael participated in competing in this race. The 1000 Miles of Sebring race will be the first series of the 2023 FIA WEC endurance racing world championship which will be participated by Sean Gelael with the WRT 31 team. Well, the 2023 season race is also believed to be the most crowded racing event in the history of the FIA WEC.

Previously, Sean and the team conducted pre-season tests in Sebring, United States. In the pre-season test session, WRT 31 appeared in a complete formation, the most popular Robin Frinjs who had just recovered from a hand injury while participating in Formula E in Mexico, in January.
