First Trailer Release, City War Closing The 54th Rotterdam Film Festival

JAKARTA - Mouly Surya's latest film, War Kota is the closing film of the 54th Rotterdam International Film Festival (IFFR). At the same time, Starvision and Cinesurya revealed the first trailer for the film, entitled "This City is a Battlefield international".

The two-minute trailer shows a number of wars in 1946 experienced by Isa (Chicco Jerikho) and Hazil (Jerome Kurnia). The war was related to Isa's inner state who had problems in his marriage to Fatimah (Ariel Tatum), while Isa was asked to lead a new mission.

In the midst of this problem, Hazil, a man who has high enthusiasm to win Fatimah's heart who is being hit by conflict with Isa.

This trailer features an ambitious, dynamic and classical war scene that is fresh in the Indonesian film industry.

"Mouly Surya is a skilled director, and his expertise in making the City War a masterclass in making films. This film is an interesting anti-war exploration and is told with precision, and as a co-production of Indonesia-Dutch, the cultural resonance of this film is very deep," said Vanja Kaludjercic as Director of the IFFR Festival.

The premiere in the Netherlands as a closing film has a layered meaning. This film reflects my interpretation of the memory with our country and the Netherlands, in terms of scenes, dialogue, culture at that time was very attached to that memory," said Mouly Surya.

"A kind of DNA sharing that can have a meaning that is also in the audience in the Netherlands, not only Indonesian audiences," he added.

This film is Mouly Surya's latest work after Trigger Warning, played by Jessica Alba. Meanwhile, the City War film will be shown on IFFR before approaching the cinema.
