Fajar Nugros said that the story in the Sleep Call was inspired by the issues faced by young people today, which then brought up a sleep call trend.

"This film departs from the issues faced by many young people today. Starting from loneliness, a trend continues to emerge called sleep call," said Fajar Nugros during a press conference in Senayan, Central Jakarta on Monday, August 7.

The director admitted that he knew the term sleep call from his son. One day, Fajar's phone was not picked up by his son, and the child admitted that he had just had a sleep call with someone.

The Sleep Call film raises the story of a woman named Dina who once shined as a flight attendant, but is now plunged into the dark world of illegal online loan companies to pay off debts that haunt her.

In the midst of loneliness and heavy debt burdens, Dina finds a little light in the dark through a sleep call on a dating app. However, the darkness began to extinguish the sparks of light when Dina was caught in a series of addictive relationships with Rama, a fascinating but riddled foreign figure, which she came across from the app.
