The Film Mappacci Raises Makassar Bugis Culture With Humorousness

MAKASSAR - The film Mappacci (Girlfriend's Eve) is here to raise the Makassar Bugis culture which is full of moral messages and the spirit of patriotism, but is packaged humorously.

"The film Mappacci is not only strong in terms of stories but also carries many cultural and moral messages," said Mappacci film director Andi Burhamzah in Makassar as reported by ANTARA, Friday, June 16.

He said the Makassar Bugis Mappacci tradition which was held before the marriage contract procession was still maintained until now.

According to him, the film Mappacci produced by Movit Nv and Sunarti Sain is expected to repeat the success of the film Money Panic, starring comedians Tumming and Abu.

"After a long preparation, finally the film 'Mappacci' will be shown in theaters starting August 24, 2023," added Movit.

He said the film this time was different from the previous film, which only starred in Tumming and Abu, but now presents more comedians including

Adi Basto and Sukri from Makassar (Sulsel), Oki from Palu (Sulteng), and Zakaribo from Kendari (Sultra).

The film Mappacci produced by 786 Production and East Picture is also reinforced by the charming acting of Andi Batari Bintang, Cahya Arinagara, Cipta Perdana, and Fariza.

While the accompanying music in this film is supported by Noah, D'Masiv, and Geisha through their songs that have been cast.

This film tells the story of Tenri (Andi Batari) who will face the wedding day of her lover Iwan (Cahya Ari Nagara). On the night of Mappacci, Tenri received bad news that Iwan's lover had an accident because the ship she was traveling on exploded.

The incident left Tenri with deep and difficult wounds to be able to "move on" from her past, even though she later met Erwin (the first Cipta) who sincerely loved her.
