JAKARTA - After producing the film You Deserve to Die, Losmen Bu Broto and Backstage, the Paragon Pictures product house is ready for its latest horror film project, the Dark Power. Will be shooting in the near future, Andi Boediman as Executive Producer of Ideosource Entertainment said this film will be released in 2024.

Meanwhile, the horror genre was chosen because it saw great interest from the audience in the country. However, different horror nuances will try to be presented through the film Kuasa Dark.

Robert Ronny as Producer of Paragon Pictures revealed that the initial idea of making this film started in 2018. He plans to make a local horror film after watching several horror films from abroad with the theme of exorcise (exortion of demons with certain ceremonies).

The producer said that the theme of the exorcise presented in the Dark Power would be different from other horror films, both nationally and internationally.

"The angle (of point of view) does present Catholic exorism in Muslim-majority countries. That's just different. So, it's different from exorism films in America, Europe and others," said Robert Ronny during a press conference at the International Design School, South Jakarta on Tuesday, May 30.

In line with the opinion above, Lukman Sardi as the actor admitted that the theme presented was very different from other local horror films.

"In our culture, horror films are watched a lot. Uniquely, the point of view here is rarely touched. Dark power raises the point of view of the church and it is familiar. So the chemistry is fresher," said Lukman Sardi.

"In my opinion, apart from using the church's point of view, the story is very related to everyday life," he continued.

Lukman and other actors, Jerome Kurnia will play a role as a preacher. Lukman said this film displays the human side of a businessman.

In addition, Astrid Tiar also starred in the film which was based on the true story. He admitted that he was enthusiastic about filming after being absent from acting for a long time in big screen films.

Furthermore, Astrid, who claims to be a coward, said that accepting an offer to play in the Dark Power, which is her first horror film, was an attempt to challenge herself as an actress.

"I'm trying again to play in acting, it turns out that the toughest challenge is horror films. I'm afraid of horror films, so I challenge and dare to join," Astrid said.

Bobby Prasetya will direct the film Dark Power, hopefully it can also be shown outside Indonesia, including the United States.

"For this time it's a bit special, our partner in America feels that this horror market like the Dark Power can be an international success," concluded Robert Ronny.
