JAKARTA - Reza Rahadian has been acting for more than 19 years. During that time, he has played many national figures, namely BJ Habibie, Donald Pandiangan, to HOS Cokroaminoto.

The 36-year-old actor feels grateful to be able to play many big names. He feels that he has become part of the travel map for Indonesian films, especially films with biopic genres.

"I speak from my perspective as an actor, of course, getting the trust to play the nation's character is something big," said Reza Rahadian during a fitemui at Epicentrum, South Jakarta on Sunday, April 9.

"I experienced from Donald Pandiangan, playing the late Pak Habibie, then Cokroaminoto. These are the figures of our nation. Of course I can't deny, yes, there is a feeling of pride, there is a feeling of emotion, there is a feeling that 'oh yes thank you very much for the opportunity given', more there," he continued.

Reza realized that it was not easy to play the nation's character. He knows that there are pros and cons among the audience, who often argue that certain figures are not suitable for certain actors.

However, for him this assessment is normal. He never felt afraid of the audience's assessment. What became his concern was, when he was unable to play the character of the nation well.

'Takutan mungkin tidak tapi lebih khawatir saja, apakah sebagai aktor mampu atau tidak dan publik bagaimana menerimanya. Kalau saya belajar dari pengalaman saya di film-film sebelumnya ya hanya bisa bersyukur ketika film itu bisa dinikmati juta penonton dan diterima, katanya.

Playing the character of the nation's character, said Reza, was his dream from the start. As an admirer of Christine Hakim who once played Cut Nyak Dhien, Reza admitted that she was inspired by her idol to play in a biopic.

"Because one of my idols is Mrs. Christine Hakim and I know Mrs. Christine plays Cut Nyak Dhien. So of course as an actor who just started that time, his dream is one day I can have the opportunity to play a national character. Yes, thank God it will be realized," concluded Reza Rahadian.
