WINNing Best Actor At BAFTA 2023, Austin Butler Send Tribute For Lisa Marie Presley

JAKARTA - Austin Butler won the Best Actor award at the 2023 BAFTA Awards which was held on Sunday, February 19 local time. This moment he used to express his condolences to the late Lisa Marie Presley.

"This is truly ancessful tragic period, and sadness is a long process. So my heart and love are with (the Presley family)," Austin Butler told Variety.

I am honored to be welcomed by their families. This is a bittersweet period," he said again.

Butler also feels lucky to be able to play the legendary singer Elvis. He reminisced about the filming process and the process of becoming the singer.

How lucky I was to get that experience. Feelings stood on the international stage and looking at the jumpsuit I wore and realized there were certain moments where I saw the closest to what Elvis saw during the Special '68 or whatever, "he recalled.

"And I miss him so much. I miss that experience," Butler continued.

The Disney star also expressed his longing for the crew and the Elvis film team. He admitted that he really enjoyed the shooting process at that time.

I feel every joy you feel with it. And I miss the people who filmed with me, they became like family to me. I really miss them," said Austin Butler.

The actor revealed his latest acting project after Elvis. He will star in at least two films, namely Dune: Part 2 by Denis Villeneuve and The Bikeriders.

"But now I'm not working. It's very fun because it means I can have a vacation until March," said Austin Butler.

This is the first time Austin Butler has tribute to Lisa Marie Presley on stage. Previously, he received an Oscar nomination and hoped Lisa Marie could be there to see him again.

It feels the same as Elvis, I hope they can see this moment. Strange celebrating this in the midst of mourning, but I think it's a way to respect him and say this for him," said Austin Butler.

Lisa Marie Presley passed away on January 12, 2023 from a heart attack at her California home. Lisa Marie briefly performed with Austin Butler to promote the film Elvis.
