JAKARTA - Women aged 50 years and over turn out to be more active in sex than in productive age, according to HonestDocs research, a platform that dedicates itself to the field of health information.

The frequency of women's sexual activity increases when entering the menopause period (55-65 years and over), where 44 percent of respondents from this age group admit to having sex every day, HonestDocs said as quoted by ANTARA.

The increase in sexual activity in the age group was driven because women who were already operating were no longer worried about pregnancy. Meanwhile, in the group of respondents aged productive (in this study 25-64 years) have had sexual relations on average several times a week. They are quite active because of the high libido of their partner, the desire to maintain the harmony of their partner, or because they want to have children.

Although this study found that the age group 12 -17 years and 18 - 54 years were not active in sex, an astonishing fact was found in the age group of adolescents (12-17) where 21 percent of them had sex every day.

On the other hand, according to data from the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKKBN), youth knowledge of the Health of Youth Reproduction (KKR) only ranged from 57.1 percent. That means, tens of millions of Indonesian teenagers still do not have sufficient knowledge of reproduction, and how to protect themselves from sexual behavior at risk, prevention of pregnancy, or sexually transmitted diseases and HIV/AIDs.

So far, discussions about sex topics among the general public are often considered taboo. People think that the topic of sex should be avoided because it is a personal problem of their respective households. In fact, the lack of education about sex and intimate relationships is one of the causes of the high number of sexually transmitted diseases, cases of pregnancy outside of marriage, to other psychological effects.

The HonestDocs research also found that Papua, Southeast Sulawesi, and Riau Islands were the three provinces with the most moderate respondents. Interestingly, 6 out of 10 provinces with the most frequent number of respondents who were registered as provinces with the highest frequency of sex, namely Papua, Southeast Sulawesi, Riau Islands, Maluku, Aceh, and South Sulawesi.

In his research, HonestDocs involved a total of 6,877 respondents of various ages and sexes. Research respondents consist of a proportion of female respondents of 54 percent and men of 46 percent, and age domination between 18-34 years. The study aims to identify patterns of sexual behavior of Indonesians, including the frequency of intimate relationships and▁dugaanutation.
