JAKARTA - Peter Gabriel released his first single in seven years, Panopticom. This song will be included in his upcoming solo album i/o.

The former Genesis vocalist teamed up with Brian Eno, bassist Tony Levin, drummer Manu Katchre, and guitarist David Rhodes for the song.

Written and produced by Gabriel, Panopticom was recorded at Real World Studios at Wiltshire and The Beehive in London.

"The first song is based on the idea I have worked on to start creating an unlimited accessible data world that can be expanded: The Panopticom," Gabriel said of the single, Sunday, January 8.

"We are starting to connect a group of people who think the same thing that might make it happen, to allow the world to see itself better and better understand what's really going on," Gabriel continued.

Speaking to NME last May, Gabriel also revealed: "I have a lot of songs that I'm trying to finish. I hope to get something out by the end of this year."

Meanwhile, according to its official press release, "Panopticom has been released on the full moon and upcoming songs from its 10th studio album will also come out on full moon night."
