JAKARTA - Obituary drummer Donald Tardy spoke with Metal Wani about the new studio album from Florida's death metal veteran,TALized Dying Of Everything. The album will be released on January 13th via Relapse Records.
"I don't know how magical all the stars lined up for us. We took a long time to write this album. We never forced ourselves into the song; we let the song find us," said Tardy.
"But once we really got into it and started writing and putting those songs together, we were really excited from the start. We were, like, 'play it up, man. There's something going on here'."
Then, continued Tardy, when they finished recording they sent the material to sound engineer Joe Cincotta who executed the last four Observatory albums in his studio, in New York City, Full Force Studios. Cincotta has also played a live Obituary technician for 15 years.
"So, that's the perfect chemistry we have right now. The band is excited. I think we played our instruments well. We played cleanly on this tape, which makes it easier for our live engineer. It's very easy, from what Joe said, to produce this album because we gave him a heavy but clean product and performed well. So [I am] very excited on this album. "
In February 2022, Tardy notified Finland's Chaoszine of the musical direction of the follow-up to the self-titled album released in 2017.
"Very fresh, deadly, interesting in some of the songs, there are some very heavy songs in this recording, man. I'm very proud of that. I can't wait for people to hear about it," he said.
