JAKARTA - Iggy Pop admitted that he was once offered as the main vocalist of AC/DC.
The legendary rocker revealed it while talking about his new album, EveryLower, to The New York Times.
"Many years ago, they had a manager, when I had not reformed The Stooges, I hadn't moved to England yet. And this guy said, 'Are you interested in joining AC/DC?' They're looking for a vocalist," Iggy Pop recalled.
Iggy continued by saying, according to him he was not the right person for that position.
"I listened to their recordings. I thought I couldn't keep up with the request," he said. "I don't, like, 'Ugh, I don't like them.' The song was made pretty well. They did the job carefully, but I'm not what they need."
It's not clear when Iggy was actually offered to join AC/DC and whether the offer came after Bon Scott's death in February 1980 or not.
According to Iggy before, he met Scott in 1977 at Whiskey A Go Go in West Hollywood.
"I had an amazing meeting with Bon somewhere, and we were both drunk and drunk," he explained.
Scott joined AC/DC in 1974 and gained international fame before his death at the age of 33 from alcohol poisoning.
He voiced his voice in AC/DC's first six studio albums, including High Voltage,uranty Done Dirt Cheap, Let There Be Rock and Highway To Hell.
