The Film I'm So Excited To Fail To Enter The Oscars 2023 Nomination, Bene Dion Rajagukkgung Stays Grateful

JAKARTA - Waiting for lovers and Indonesian film people to see the work of the nation's children being nominated and winning the Oscar must be delayed again. In the International Feature Film category, 15 film titles from various countries were selected to be included in the short list (shortlist), and there was no Ngeri Sedap there.

The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) on Wednesday, December 21 announced a short list for 10 categories contested in Oscars 2023. Indonesian film, Ngeri Genap, which has the opportunity to become a nominee for the International Feature Film category, was not selected because it did not meet the criteria.

The failure of Generi Sedap as an Indonesian representative to fight at the Academy Awards is not the first time. Since 1986 through the film Nagabonar, Indonesian films have tried to be nominated 24 times but failed.

Bene Dion Rajagukguk, Director and screenwriter Generi Ngeri Sedap, responded to the failure of the film's 2023 Oscar nomination. He admitted that he was still grateful. He felt that the initial goal of making the film Ngeri Genap had actually been achieved.

Ngeri-Ngeri Sedap was made to offer it to the Batak tribe. So apart from that, everything is a bonus that must be grateful for, including being Indonesia's representative to the Oscars," said Bene Dion Rajaguk when contacted via text message on Thursday, December 22.

From the list of 15 films included in the International Feature Film category, it will be judged again to be selected for 5 films that will be nominated for the Oscars next year.

Several films from Asia, such as the Decision to Leave (South Korea), Last Film Show (India), Joyland (Pakistan) and Return to Seoul (Kamboja) were selected to be included in the list of 15 films.
