JAKARTA - Lee Seung Gi has filed a lawsuit against CEO Hook Entertainment (hereafter called Hook) and the current former and agency director. Lawmaker Lee Seung Gi released a lengthy statement regarding their legal complaint on Thursday, December 22. "This morning at the Seoul Central District Attorney's Office, we filed a complaint with CEO Hook Entertainment as well as the current former and director of [agents]." "As has been reported many times, Hook has hidden facts about the musical advantages generated by Lee Seung Gi for approximately 18 years since his debut, and they haven't paid [Lee Seung Gi]" he continued. Law representative Lee Seung Gi then filed a legal complaint against Hook Entertainment CEO Kwon Jin Young and finance director for alleged violations of special economic crimes (embezzlement) and fraud. Furthermore, Lee Seung Gi learned through a recent report that the current former Hook and director tricked him and also did not pay part of his advertising model profits. "Lee Seung Gi believes that about 10 percent is paid to advertising agencies as an 'agency commission', but the truth is, Hook Entertainment's current ex and director don't pay the agency. Commissions for advertising bureaus and returns are shared between themselves," said legal representative Lee Seung Gi. When Lee Seung Gi raised the issue, Hook Entertainment admitted and paid Lee Seung Gi around 630 million won (about 500,000 US dollars). Law representative Lee Seung Gi stated that they sued Kwon Jin Young and three directors for fraud and embezzlement of employment. "Lee Seung Gi never reached an agreement with Hook over the cost of music and its payments. However, on the morning of December 16, 2022, Hook without prior notification transferred around 4.81 billion won (about 3.8 million US dollars) from unfinished payments for music and fraudulent advertising payments and filed confirmation of no debt lawsuit against Lee Seung Gi," he said. His legal representative added that Lee Seung Gi learned about this through a new report, and he had not received the letter. In addition, there is a significant gap between the amount that has been transferred and the amount that Lee Seung Gi understands as the amount that has not been paid. The legal representative stated, "While simultaneously responding to a lawsuit over confirming the absence of debt, we will file a counter-trial, and we plan to claim compensation for Hook and related personnel for unpaid music fees and illegal acts." Previously, Hook Entertainment stated that the agency transferred revenue that had not been paid to Lee Seung Gi in the amount of 2.9 billion won (about 2.2 million US dollars), and the interest was delayed by 1.2 billion won (about 900.000 dollars), in full.
