Playing The Glory Series, Song Hye Kyo Look Forward To Dark Characters Throughout Careers

JAKARTA - Song Hye Kyo performed differently in her latest series, The Glory. Written by Kim Eun Sook, the series highlights a bullying story with a mix of dark thriller genres directed by Ahn Gil Ho.

Since the trailer was released, Song Hye Kyo has shown something new through the characters she played, Moon Dong Eun. He also revealed the reason why he joined the series The Glory.

"First, (this project) was written by Kim Eun Sook and director Ahn Gil Ho. There is no reason not to do it," Song Hye Kyo said at a press conference today, Tuesday, December 20.

These dramas and characters are something I have been waiting for my entire career. When I read the script, I felt tragic and couldn't feel anything else, "he said.

Song Hye Kyo feels she can bring something through her character, especially because this series tells about social issues that are rampant in society.

"If I could take pictures of Moon Dong Eun's character, it would be great for the series," said Song Hye Kyo.

I've played a lot of my favorite projects. With The Glory, I'm going to put on a new face and maybe people will feel unfamiliar with this," he explained.

Song Hye Kyo plays Moon Dong Eun, a victim of high school violence who takes revenge on the perpetrators. He works as a teacher of the perpetrator's child and starts carrying out his actions.

Dong Eun experienced school violence. Her life was destroyed. She had chosen to end her life but she asked Why me? I think she (Dong Eun) wants revenge," said Song Hye Kyo.

Very challenged to play a victim. Young Dong Eun can't fight her but when she grows up, I want this character to be strong. I talked a lot to the director for this character, "said Song Hye Kyo.

Kim Eun Sook as the writer also hopes that this story can serve as a reminder for teenagers and parents. The Glory was inspired by the journey of Eun Sook's son who will enter high school next year.

The topic is foreign but I want to talk about it. My concern is that it will be my son who will go to high school next year. When I talked about this I started writing it on a laptop, "said Kim Eun Sook.

The Glory series will be divided into two parts. The first part with eight episodes will be released on Netflix on December 30.
