JAKARTA - The Barbie film by Greta Gerwig, starring Margot Robbie as a fashion doll with the same name released the first official snippet. Apart from Margot Robbie, the Warner Bros. film also stars Ryan Gosling who plays a toy for a boy named Ken.

Quoted from Variety, Monday, December 19, the footage features Barbie and Ken being trapped in the real world, where Barbie finds the challenge of being a living woman.

Apart from Robbie and Gosling, the other cast who joined the film were Will Ferrell, Emma Mackey,ruel Swindells, Nicola Coughlan, Emerald Fennell, Kate McKinnon, Michael Cera, Simu Liu, America Ferrera, Ncuti Gatwa, Issa Rae, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Rhea Perlman, Sharon Rooney, Scott Evans, Ana Cruz Kayne, Ritu Arya and Jamie Demetriou.

Hari Nef (And Just Like That, You) and Alexandra Shipp (Tick, Ticket... Boom!) will also play in the film as a supporting actor.

Noah Baumbach (Lady Bird and Little Women) became writers of this film script. Barbie started production earlier this year in London and finished in July.

Meanwhile, in 2019, Robbie once said the importance of lifting Barbie to the big screen.

"I think it's a good opportunity to spread positive things around the world and an opportunity to be aspirational to younger kids," Robbie said. Barbie premiered in theaters on July 21, 2023.
