JAKARTA - With the increasing public appreciation for South Korea, the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) created an event titled Korea 360 which took place on December 3-5 at Lotte Shopping Avenue, South Jakarta. This event is intended to provide information to Indonesians who want to travel to the country of ginseng.

After the pandemic, South Korea is known to have allowed foreign tourists to visit. "Actually, we have told you that Korea (South Korea) since June 2022 has been open to foreign tourists. But at that time we still had a PCR test for arrival, then as of October 1, the PCR test was no longer there, so now we can really enter Korea without any tests," said Public Relations KTO Novi Nursyahbani when met at Lotte Shopping Avenue, Sunday 4 December.

On that occasion, Novi also took the time to talk about various tourist destinations in South Korea that foreign tourists could enjoy.

One of the most interesting destinations offered by KTO is demilitarized zone (DMZ) tourism. The zone that separates South Korea and North Korea is the only demilitarized zone in the world that allows tourists to visit.

"Actually what we get from tourism to DMZ is historical tourism, the same as the tension tourism that is there. We know that South Korea is divided into North Korea, and the border is a very closely guarded place with soldiers on both sides," said Novi.

With North Korea's tourism closed, the only access to see the demilitarized zone is in South Korea. There are two places that can be visited, namely Paju, Gyeonggi, which are not far from Seoul and Gangwon Province.

Despite being a zone that is closely guarded by the South Korean army, Novi Nursyahbani said that DMZ tours can still be comfortably visited, as well as to witness one of the most historic places on the South Korean journey as a country. "It's still safe, when you get there it will also be accompanied by tour guides, and you will also be told what you don't allow," he concluded.
