JAKARTA - The film Rumah Kaliurang also enlivened the release of the film in October. With the horror genre, this film has also made the debut of Dwi Sasono and Dondy Adrian under the production of Imagine. Kaliurang's house took an urban legend from a house in the Kaliurang area, Yogyakarta (according to the title) called angker and uninhabited. What if the phenomenon is brought into the medium of film? The film Rumah Kaliurang tells the story of five friends: Brama (Randy Pangalila), Kinan (Erika Carlina), Aji (Wafda Saifan Lubis), Rani (Shareefa Daanish) and Anom (Khiva Iskak). They wanted to take a vacation to a beach but stopped because their car accidentally hit something. When they stopped, they couldn't find what they hit. Kinan, who wanted to urinate, decided to go with Brama to look for the toilet. Meanwhile Aji, Anom, and Rani took care of their car. Kinan and Brama found an uninhabited house but very good. The other three friends also followed to rest for a while in the house. But they didn't realize they couldn't get out of the house. This film has an hour's duration which is fast to tell Kaliurang House. The early 20 minutes are interesting shots where characters are introduced one by one without narrative. For 20 minutes, we have found the keyword that is the main story of the film. Kinan Brama, who is in a long-distance relationship, quiet Rani, relaxed Aji, and Anom, is often the subject of gang bullying. The short duration is difficult to describe everything that happens in the film Rumah Kaliurang. As a result, there is no sense of sympathy that can be placed because the audience does not know where they are friends from and where they go on vacation. Likewise with Kaliurang House which became the title of the film. Its fast duration makes the director unable to explore some of the details of the companion, for example Kaliurang House. Even throughout the film, no player called the house a Kaliurang house. The horror game is also limited to thin jumpscare such as shadows or irregular forms. Even though this simple premise has been widely used in other horror films, Kaliurang House does not seem convincing in presenting this film. Kaliurang's house failed to add to the excitement in the Indonesian horror film industry. The fast duration, the focus of the story that there is no rule to make this film feel boring.
