JAKARTA - Keeping the body hydrated is important because 60 percent of the composition of the human body consists of water. For this reason, water consumption is very mandatory during the summer because fluids are more easily lost from the body through sweat. Unfortunately, there are still many people who ignore this because they don't like drinking water.

That's why, VOI launched Byrdie, Thursday, August 25, to collect a series of tips to hydrate the body for those of you who don't like drinking water. Read more below.

Drink Low Alcohol Beer or Non-Alcoholic Beverages

Alcohol is known as a diuretic, meaning it can dehydrate you. Drinking a low-alcohol or zero-alcohol beer can help you stay well hydrated. "There's some evidence that low-alcohol or non-alcoholic beer can positively affect hydration because it doesn't have the diuretic effect that higher-alcohol beverages have," says Katie Cavuto RD and executive corporate chef for Saladworks.

"Also, the sodium content of low-alcoholic or non-alcoholic beer can support electrolyte replenishment. But, of course, water is always best, so filling your bottle with water is the best way to stay hydrated." close Cavuto.

Add Electrolyte

Electrolytes are very important to help the body absorb water. By adding electrolytes to the water, you can increase hydration in your body. So, even if you only drink a small amount of water, your body will remain completely hydrated.

"There are lots of electrolyte tablets you can try taking," says Maya Feller, MS, RD, CDN of Brooklyn-based Maya Feller Nutrition. "They are a good source of electrolytes such as potassium, sodium, magnesium and calcium which can help the body absorb water," explains Feller.

Mix Herbs into the Water

If you don't like the taste of water, then mixing it with other flavors can get you excited to drink it.

"Make herbal ice cubes by adding dried or fresh herbs to your ice cubes," advises Feller.

"Herbs add additional nutrients to the water and are a major flavor enhancer. Basil, parsley, and mint leaves have a refreshing taste when you add them to water," concludes Feller.

Drink Room Temperature Water in the Morning

Although refreshing, the body takes longer to absorb the ice water. So make it a habit to drink a glass of room temperature water as soon as you wake up in the morning.

"Start with a cup of warm water," Cavuto said. "Warm or room temperature water is more hydrating than cold water."

Consumption of Foods with High Water Content

Drinking water isn't the only way to stay hydrated. There are various choices of foods that are high in water.

"Zucchini, pumpkin, and cucumber are very high in water content, along with folate, vitamin A, vitamin C, and potassium," says Dr. Nancy Lin, Ph.D. and XPRO for YogaSix GO.

"This vegetable is able to provide additional water in the body. You only need to consume it with the addition of olive oil and parmesan cheese for a delicious salad bowl," explains Lin.
