JAKARTA - The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, today attended the MPR/DPR/DPD Annual Session wearing a terracotta-colored Kutubaru Kebaya. This color was deliberately chosen as a symbol of the spirit of optimism in welcoming the 77th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia.

The kebaya is the work of designer Didiet Maulana. "We provide a bright terracotta color because it gives a spirit of optimism, and also provides a fresh and fresh color, matching the red heart color ankin inspired by classical Javanese motifs," said Didiet Maulana, the designer, when contacted, Tuesday, August 16.

Regarding the kebaya, said Didet, the type of Kutubaru worn by Puan is one of the classic Indonesian kebaya styles that are often found in a number of regions in Indonesia.

"So it is not only found on the island of Java, but also in various areas in Bali, and some areas of Sumatra," added Didiet.

As for the written batik, the first woman who served as Chair of the DPR wore Javanese batik with the motif of Semen Romo (Semen Rama).

The Semen motif is interpreted as a depiction of a life that is springing up, a life that is developing and prosperous. A hope and prayer for a prosperous life.

This motif is often associated with the Ramayana story with the teachings of Hastha Brata's leadership (8 main teachings), including an attitude of enthusiasm, love, responsibility, knowledge, authority, fairness, protecting the people and self-control. A teaching of leadership for self and society.

Batik motifs consist of three main parts which are divided into air, land and sea ornaments. Symbolizes balance and justice. The Tree of Life motif symbolizes land, the garuda symbolizes the air and the baito (boat) motif symbolizes the sea.

"Full of meaning, full of prayers and good wishes conveyed in one piece of cloth," said Didiet.
