Cak Imin Impressed With Islamic Boarding School Film: Original And Touching

JAKARTA - Muhaimin Iskandar, Chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB) was impressed after watching the film Pesantren. The film by director Salahuddin Siregar shows how the students are not confined by strict rules as pesantren are known in the community by showing the artistic side and progress of the times.

"I am really touched and proud. The film is original, original, and even more original (the Islamic boarding school as the object of the film), has not changed like when I was a child," said Cak Imin at XXI Epicentrum, South Jakarta, Monday, August 1.

He considered, many shooting angles are very original. There is even a hidden camera that is not known to the students, the picture is being taken.

Muhaimin also appreciated the Pesantren film, because it was able to present messages, teachings and also studies that developed in the pesantren so that they were exposed very well.

According to him, Pesantren is a documentary film, but with a very interesting plot. “My hope is that the public's interest will see it firsthand. And I also think that the subtitles were really good at explaining the plot of the film," he said.

Director Salahuddin Siregar said the desire to make a two-hour documentary was the answer to the stigma.

"I made a film in 2012 when girls were admitted to a boarding school, there was a stigma that it was the wrong decision. Because pesantren is a source of radicalism," said Salahuddin at Epicentrum, Monday, July 1.

He hopes the film Pesantren can show that those worries don't exist. Instead, what exists is how pesantren tries to protect differences.

"There are several repeated scenes such as the interpretations of Ar Rahman and Ar Rahim. This is to show that teaching at the pesantren is not radical," he said.
