Celebrate Bhayangkara Day, Police Headquarters Holds Wayang Kulit Show All Night

JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo said the shadow puppet show which was held in the framework of the 76th Bhayangkara Day was one of the efforts of the National Police to preserve the nation's culture.

"Tonight, a shadow puppet show is held as a series of Bhayangjara's 76th Anniversary. This activity is part of the efforts of the National Police to encourage the preservation of culture, especially shadow puppets. We also encourage the preservation of culture throughout the country," said Sigit on the sidelines of the shadow puppet show in Jakarta. Bhayangkara Field, South Jakarta, Saturday night as quoted by Antara.

According to Sigit, wayang has a philosophy that contains a lot of advice and input for life in society.

He said the play played by three puppeteers namely Semar Builds Heaven is a manifestation of the Indonesian nation's efforts to build economic growth amid global uncertainty due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine conflict which has an impact on the food and energy crisis.

"This play was chosen because the Indonesian people are facing a situation of uncertainty, almost two years of a pandemic, and the global situation of the Ukraine war with Russia has an impact on energy and food problems," he said.

The four-star general also said that the wayang kulit performance also shows the closeness of the Police to the community.

On that occasion, the former Police Chief of Criminal Investigation Unit also invited the public to maintain unity and prevent polarization ahead of the 2024 General Election.

"The hope is that together we can face national agendas so that everything can be passed and Indonesia becomes a better, prosperous society. Unity and unity in maintaining Indonesia's diversity is a capital strength to jump into a developed country," said Sigit.

The National Police of the Republic of Indonesia (Polri) held a shadow puppet show all night with the story Semar Building Heaven, performed by three puppeteers, namely Ki Yanto, Ki Anom Dwijokangko and Ki Anom Sutrisno.

In the shadow puppet performance at the Bhayangkara Field at the National Police Headquarters, the National Police Chief General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo along with the main officers of the National Police, Head of the Navy Admiral Yudo Margono, Chairman of Commission III of the DPR RI Bambang Wuryanto.

The people's party which took place from 19.00 WIB to 03.00 WIB was also enlivened by offering a variety of free culinary delights for residents who watched the shadow puppet show.
