How Chris Hemsworth And Christian Bale Have Fun In Thor: Love And Thunder

JAKARTA - The film Thor: Love and Thunder will be released in theaters in July 2022. Chris Hemsworth and Christian Bale share their stories about the characters and their impressions of being involved in the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe film.

Chris Hemsworth says he's connected and Thor's character continues to evolve and provide new surprises. "Especially since Taika got involved. He brings out the immature, youthful, teenage qualities that I wanted to embody. And so does Thor now, which he didn't in the original film, (Thor) which is exciting, new and fresh." said Hemsworth as quoted from Antara, Wednesday, June 29.

"It felt like I was having fun making it happen, just like a child would -- enjoying it all, getting caught up in the magic, and the charm of it all. Personally, with films like this, it's gotta be fun, and that's what we've done. . That's what I relate to. That's what Taika emphasizes, and it's fun."

The director responded, he chose to make Thor into a character that is so funny and fun because actually he wanted to make the God of Lightning to be closer to the audience later.

"Initially, it was very difficult to think about how to make it into a relatable character. It was a big challenge," said Waititi.

The director of "Jojo Rabbit" (2019) added that it was his closeness and friendship with Hemsworth that made him even more confident to provide significant character development for Thor.

"I'm friends with Chris, and I think he's the type of person I like. I want to be on an adventure with him. And he's like someone you can trust to look after you. He's like a real life hero," Waititi said.

"So yeah, actually I just wanted to take advantage of the qualities he has and make Thor more (like) Chris, really," added the New Zealand director.

The fourth Thor sequel is also enlivened by the return of Natalie Portman as Jane Foster/Mighty Thor. Portman said he was grateful for the opportunity after not appearing for a while in the MCU.

"I felt like I had this opportunity. It also feels great to play a female superhero -- who can be so vulnerable, weak, and then able to find the strength within her, and become more like a human that I can relate to personally," said Portman. The surprises didn't stop there, there was also Christian Bale who made his MCU debut as the antagonist of Thor: Love and Thunder, namely Gorr the God Butcher. Bale admits that there is a special pleasure when he plays an enemy character.

"There is great pleasure in playing the villain. In my opinion, it is much easier to play the villain than to play the hero. Chris has a much more difficult job. Everyone is easily fascinated by the enemy in a short time," said Bale.

"However, Taika is also able to give you understanding, why this person (Gorr) makes bad decisions. He is a monster, and maybe, later on, you understand a little bit why he became like that," he added.
