8 Years On, My Chemical Romance Releases New Song The Foundations Of Decay

JAKARTA - My Chemical Romance is back with a new song called The Foundations of Decay. This song feels special because the last time My Chemical Romance released a song was 8 years ago, 2014. Quoted by Variety on Friday, the six-minute song, recalls the heyday of emo bands with Gerard Way's dramatic vocal delivery, rising guitar riffs. , and epic slow builds. The song was produced by Way, Doug McKean and lead guitarist Ray Toro.

The band will embark on a reunion tour of North America and Europe, which was originally scheduled for 2020 but was postponed due to the pandemic.

The tour kicked off in the UK on May 16, continuing through October 17 with five dates at the Kia Forum, Los Angeles. My Chemical Romance is also on the festival circuit this summer, performing at the emo festivals When We Were Young and Riot Fest.

Despite the upcoming tour, new music isn't always expected from My Chemical Romance, which disbanded in 2013. They released one final song, "Fake Your Death," in 2014 as part of the biggest hit compilation "May Death Never Stop You".

The band then briefly reunited in 2019 for a series of one-off reunion shows.

Since the disbandment of My Chemical Romance, each of its members namely Gerard Way, Toro, rhythm guitarist Frank Iero and bassist Mikey Way have continued to pursue careers in music.

Driven by ANTARA, Gerard Way released a solo album titled Hesitant Alien in 2014, Iero has released solo records and performed with Death Spells and Reggie and the Full Effect, Mikey Way formed his group Electric Century and Toro has also released music on SoundCloud.

Outside of music, Gerard Way has had many other successes such as his comic book series, The Umbrella Academy, which was adapted into a television series by Netflix and is due for a third season in June.
