JAKARTA - Almost a year after stepping into the world of entertainment, Mark Natama was met with new opportunities, acting. Through his first film, Pulang, he showed his ability as an actor.

It turns out that acting is one of Mark's favorite worlds. When he was in school, Mark performed in musicals and he had long wanted the opportunity to act in films. Luckily, he was able to make this happen in no time.

"Praise God very happy. Actually, what I wanted from the start after yesterday's competition, I told the manager that I wanted to play a movie and it turned out pretty fast (it came)," said Mark Natama when met by VOI in South Jakarta, some time ago.

In the film Pulang, Mark Natama plays Beno, Rindu's lover, played by Ziva Magnolya. As a supporting actor, Mark still wants to show the best from this first film project.

"I first asked about his role as Beno, then I asked what Beno's character was. This is my first film and I don't want it to be bad. After reading the script, because the story of Beno and Rindu was unique, it became gas,” he explained.

Pulang tells of Pras (Ringgo Agus Rahman) and his daughter, Rindu (Ziva Magnolya) who return to Grandmother's house following Santi (Imelda Therine). This is their last trip because Pras and Santi are about to get a divorce.

"In my opinion, this film Pulang, one of them has the theme of family so that it can relate to everyone, whether their family is experiencing this, has experienced it, or has never," said Mark.

"It's like Beno is a third party who is not involved in family problems, but this film shows how this problem affects the people around him," he explained.

The man who was born in 2001 is actually not new to the world of acting. He had roles in musicals and acting projects during his school days. He used this provision as a reminder to practice his acting in the film Pulang.

“When I was in high school, I had an antagonistic role, as an old man disguised as a grandfather who was liked by the people, it turned out that I was evil. I used to think that being the protagonist wasn't as fun as bland," said Mark.

"But after graduating from high school, I watched quite a lot of movies and being the protagonist wasn't easy, it was actually difficult because he was in control of the film," he added.

As a film lover, Mark Natama wants to be clever in playing roles. He cited Johnny Depp and Reza Rahadian as figures who inspired him in the film world. According to him, the two actors can transform through the various characters they play.

“In my opinion, versatility is yes, I think I can or don't have it. I want to challenge myself to be able to play a role like that. This year I've had enough doubts about myself and quite a few times I've been proven wrong. So now I'm starting to believe, just believe in this life. When asked how confident I am, I'm eager to try," he said.

In the future, Mark Natama wants to get an action and romantic film project. He wants to play a very sweet man with his lover.

Being an alumni of a major competition, Mark is also supported by a mass of fans called the Headquarters. As a young singer, he is grateful for the great and objective support from his fans.

“At first I didn't want to see the trailer (Pulang movie) so I just reposted it because I was afraid. As soon as my fanbase, Headquarters, found out that I was overthinking this film, they were like "You don't really act like you" so I dared to see it. When I watched it, it was pretty good, right," said the Jago Jealous singer.

He explained that his fans are people who are very open to the work. For better or for worse, they will reveal to the idol directly. Unknowingly, Mark felt that the feedback that came from them was a form of trust.

“Apart from this film, I am very blessed with the friends of Headquarters. Even though they support me, they like everything I do, but if I am ugly, they will say I am ugly," he said.

“For example, when I sing, I'm not fit to sing and then they ask me why, it seemed like I wasn't on as usual. So they won't say I'm good if I'm bad," he explained.

Mark Natama has just started the world of acting, but he has not completely left the world of music, especially since he has not been a singer for a year.

“Even though I've only been a singer for a year, it's only been a long time since I've been singing in the bathroom, boarding house, so I've found a comfortable point in singing. Only this trip with the movie Home gives me hope. It turns out that I can also enjoy it because at first I just thought, "It's fun to play movies," added Mark.

In this one year, Mark Natama has released two singles: Jago Jemburu and Terluka Menginginmumu. He also has hopes for a music career where he can compose his own songs and be known to the public.

“Last year I was really chasing targets, numbers, achievements, I was crazy about that. Indeed, from yesterday's competition, we were built to have a mindset after the competition that's a real competition, but I'm not ready to jump in so I don't focus on myself,” he said.

“This year I'm doing guerrilla activities, I like my work, I'm honest, that's good enough for me. And I hope people can enjoy it."

Closing the conversation with VOI, Mark Natama expressed his desire to be known through albums and other works.

“The unfulfilled dream has an album and has one song that people know I have with that song. I want to have a song that people know "Mark Natama will sing this song" and closer, my thesis will run smoothly because soon I will write a thesis," concluded Mark Natama.
