Duh, Miley Cyrus's Plane Was Struck By Lightning While Flying To Paraguay

JAKARTA - Pop star Miley Cyrus said her plane was struck by lightning while heading to a concert venue near Paraguay's capital, Asuncion. For safety's sake, the plane made an emergency landing.

"To the fans and everyone worried about my flight to Asuncion. Our plane got caught in a huge storm and was struck by lightning," he wrote on Twitter.

Cyrus' upload includes a video of lightning flashing from an airplane window. "The crew, band, friends and family traveling with me survived the emergency landing," Cyrus said.

The singer, who has 46.5 million followers on Twitter and has spawned hits such as "Wrecking Ball" was due to arrive Tuesday evening at Silvio Pettirossi airport on the outskirts of Asuncion to perform at the Asuncionco music festival.

Quoted from Reuters, Felix Kanasawa, head of Paraguay's national Directorate of Civil Aviation, told local media that bad weather caused the plane to land at Guarani airport, near the city of Ciudad del Este, on the border with Brazil.

Miley Cyrus flew in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo a few hours later. Event organizers postponed the festival due to bad weather after a storm caused heavy rains, submerged cars and power outages in the capital and surrounding areas of the metropolitan area, authorities said.
