The Batman Succeeds, HBO Makes The Penguin Spinoff

JAKARTA - Slowly but surely, the universe of The Batman created by Matt Reeves is starting to develop. Successfully leading the box office, HBO Max is reportedly working on the production of the series The Penguin, starring Colin Farrell.

Colin Farrell as the main character admitted that he was impatient with the exploration of the world of Oswald Cobblepot or The Penguin.

“I'm excited to continue exploring Oz as he crosses the dark side to become a Penguin. It would be good for him to get back on the streets of Gotham for a bit of madness and chaos," said Colin Farrell quoting THR on Thursday, March 10.

Matt Reeves as the director of The Batman also believes the character of The Penguin will be an interesting character, especially played by Colin Farrell.

"Colin did an amazing job as Penguin in The Batman and had the opportunity to explore that character on HBO Max," said Matt Reeves.

The series will be in a limited format and produced by Reeves, Farrell, Daniel Pipski, Adam Kassan, and Lauren LeFranc.

“I am a fan of the world of The Batman. And Matt's films are powerful and bold. I humbly love to tell the story of the dirty world of Gotham City. What better reason than to tell the story of Oswald Cobblepot?” said LeFran.

In addition to The Penguin series, HBO Max is also reportedly preparing a series that tells the story of Gotham City with the background story of Arkham Asylum.

On the other hand, it is not yet known when The Penguin series will be released on HBO Max considering the series is still in the pre-production stage.

The Batman film, starring Robert Pattinson, has been in theaters since March 4. The film earned 134 million US dollars domestically and 124 million internationally.
