Back As Rano Karno's Partner In A Colorless Rainbow, Maudy Koesnaedi: I Closed Zaenab In Her Place

JAKARTA - Maudy Koesnaedi and Rano Karno are already very attached to the characters Zaenab and Doel in the soap opera Si Doel Anak Sekolahan. But in the film Rainbow Without Color, both of them have to give up their identical roles in order to become a harmonious husband and wife couple.

When he received an offer from Rainbow Without Color, Maudy admitted that he immediately contacted Rano. He tries to convince himself whether he can play Kirana, the wife of Fedi, played by Rano.

"I've been with my brother (Rano) for decades, I have great respect for him. Meanwhile, the dialogue here says that Fer can do this or not, Fer can or can't. It's really difficult to talk about not using brother or mas," said Maudy when met VOI at Kemang Village XXI, Friday, 11 February.

"Brother believes that we are actors and actresses, given any role we must be able to. I'm grateful to have this role, finally I can explore it again because it's been more than 20 years since I've seen it (Rano) bro Doel. needed," he added.

In the film directed by Indra Gunawan, Maudy plays an Alzheimer's sufferer, who slowly begins to forget those closest to him. Due to the lack of dialogue and relying on many expressions, Maudy felt very challenged to play the role.

"The shooting of this film was carried out during the second wave (COVID-19) so I didn't have many observations. I only did research by Google, watched films about Alzheimer's, consuls with people who have had it. From the results of my research, I tried to give a gesture to Mr. Indra," he said.

"Alzheimer has an on and off period. That's what makes it difficult to measure the damage of the disease to Kirana. The point is that my grip is the same as Indra, because he has personal experience with Alzheimer's," he added.

Rainbow Without Color, which is scheduled to hit theaters on February 17, tells the story of a small harmonious family whose harmony begins to crumble after one of its members is diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Apart from Maudy Koesnaedi and Rano, this film also stars Zayyan Sakha and Ratna Riantiarno.
