JAKARTA - After being sentenced to 4.5 years in prison by the East Jakarta District Court (PN Jaktim) on January 19, Gaga Muhammad's party is now starting to file an appeal. This was done by Gaga's attorney, Fahmi Bachmid, and accompanied by Gaga's mother, Janariyah.

Both came to the East Jakarta District Court at around 13.00 WIB because they thought they had not received justice for Gaga.

"Oh yes (we haven't received justice) that's why we filed an appeal. At least we get justice for Gaga, because she is still too young so she must get justice. At least her sentence will be reduced," said Janariyah when met by VOI at the East Jakarta District Court, Tuesday 8 February.

Fahmi explained that he had submitted a 44-page memorandum of appeal and it had been officially accepted to the clerk. There are several important points in it that are considered to be considered for leniency in Gaga's sentence.

"The first is that there is an error in concluding that Laura Anna's victim was paralyzed on December 8, 2019, here the first reason is that there was an error as if Laura was paralyzed on December 8, when in fact it is not like that," he said.

The second reason, the lawyer said the cause of Laura Anna's paralysis was not Gaga Muhammad. "Secondly, there was a mistake in seeing the paralysis as a result of Gaga Muhammad's actions, so Gaga was negligent, yes. But the cause of the paralysis has not been proven in this trial," said Fahmi.

As is known, Gaga was sentenced to prison for violating Article 310 paragraph 3 of the Traffic Law regarding negligence in driving resulting in serious injuries, in this case the victim is the late Laura Anna, Gaga's lover.

After this, Gaga Muhammad's party had to wait for the results of the examination of files from the East Jakarta District Court for the next stage of the appeal process.
