Deddy Corbuzier Comments On Lectures On Domestic Violence: If You Keep Beating, Prayers Will Not Help

JAKARTA - Deddy Corbuzier once commented on a snippet of Oki Setiana Dewi's lecture which was re-uploaded by social activist Permadi Arya. He responded with satirical jokes.

"If I hit it, I can't cry. It's not because I wake up again," wrote Deddy, Thursday, February 3. The reply went viral and got many responses from netizens.

At that time Oki had not issued a statement about the video. The lecturer and celebrity asked to upload the long version of the video through his Instagram account @okisetianadewi, Friday, February 4, 2022 morning. Oki apologizes for affirming that he also rejects domestic violence.

"Assalamu'alaikum all friends, yesterday I received a message from some friends about a snippet of my lecture 2 or 3 years ago. Above is the longer version of the video," he said.

"Thank you for your attention and affection. Of course I strongly reject domestic violence. I apologize and apologize for the mistakes in conveying and may Allah forgive me for all my mistakes," he added.

Apparently the apology still didn't make Deddy relieved. He made a live response video which was uploaded on Deddy Corbuzier's YouTube channel. This time, Deddy Corbuzier made a scathing satire directly.

"That's what he said, it's definitely not me because if I hit you, you wouldn't be able to do anything. Or he said that because he was often beaten and couldn't talk about it," he said.

"But, it's good. Whatever happens must be accompanied by prayer. After all, prayer is good," he said.

However, Deddy Corbuzier again inserts an insinuation about a wife who is silently beaten by her husband. "But, if you keep on beating, your prayers won't actually help," he concluded.

Uus, who was his interlocutor, explained that there were many possibilities when his wife chose to remain silent when she was beaten. "Perhaps like in Dr Stanger, the spirit that was beaten has left the body," said Uus to Deddy Corbuzier.
