JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Anindya Novyan Bakrie, positively welcomed the plan to form a Task Force (Task Unit) of the Manpower Law which will involve the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Manpower.

"He (Minister of Manpower) is pleased to create a kind of Working Group or Task Force between the government and Kadin to ensure that it is no longer just talking, but data, substance and solution," said Anin, Anindya's nickname quoting Antara.

For information, at the end of last October, the Constitutional Court (MK) in its decision asked the legislators (UU), namely the government and the DPR, to issue a Employment rule from Law Number 6 of 2023 concerning Job Creation and to form a new Employment Law.

"I see that our vision (Kadin and the government) is the same, how can we help not only economic growth, but also investment. Also, we together ensure that the welfare of the workers and also workers is maintained," said Anin in a statement quoted in Jakarta, Saturday.

He admitted that the process of forming the new Employment Law would certainly not be easy, especially for business actors.

"But with very good communication and also an open way of thinking, I think I can find a middle way. Because after all, from Kadin wants growth to exist, investment exists, but we also understand that the welfare of the people and Indonesia in general must also be well guarded," explained Anin.

He added that what the government had conveyed regarding the increase in the UMP (Provincial Minimum Wage) was expected to also be accompanied by increased productivity.

"Because it has been determined, we want to ensure that in the field it is conducive and the Minister and the Deputy Minister are very open to ensuring productivity can also be accompanied," he said.

Anin said at the meeting he had said that Kadin was the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. So many corporations are under the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, including cooperatives and SOEs (State-Owned Enterprises).

"So we see that now the key is how there is no termination of labor, as much as possible," said Anin.

Meanwhile, Deputy General Chairperson (WKU) of the Coordinator for Human Development and Culture of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Shinta Widjaja Kamdani also responded to the Constitutional Court's decision regarding the formation of a new Employment Law, outside of the Job Creation Law.

"In fact, the main goal of the Job Creation Law is actually to create jobs," he said.

However, Shinta understands that this dynamic is one of the processes that must be faced by related parties, including the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. According to Shinta, the process of preparing the new Employment Law must have begun.

Kadin together with the Ministry of Manpower have agreed to create a discussion forum to also bring independent sources who can provide the latest data regarding existing conditions, especially labor-intensive industries.

"We respect until the existing decision, we have to carry it out. We will carry out this process later to sit with the government and maybe later from the labor union to be able to start again for discussion, a process rather than a new law later the Employment Law which will also be guarded in the DPR," said Shinta.
