Subsidized Fuel Distribution Scheme Completed, Bahlil Says It Will Be Valid Next Year

JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadlia revealed that the new subsidized fuel distribution scheme has been completed. This new scheme will certainly take effect in 2025.

"Regarding the subsidy method that has been completed, God willing, it will be decided in the near future through the flat (limited meeting) and we will announce it through the flats," Bahlil told the media crew, Wednesday, December 11.

Bahlil ensured that this decision was taken for the good of all parties, both the government and the recipients of subsidies. However, Bahlil was reluctant to divulge what kind of scheme would be implemented in the distribution of this subsidized fuel.

When asked about when the new rules will be implemented, Bahlil said this new scheme would take effect in early 2025.

"Later, after the meeting, it will be broken, then I will announce it, then all of them will be caught. (Initially) 2025, God willing," Bahlil added.

Previously, Bahlil said that he had reported the results of the meeting of the Energy Subsidy Policy Procedure Team to President Prabowo Subianto. Furthermore, according to Bahlil, the decision regarding the energy sector subsidies will be announced by President Prabowo.

Bahlil added, from the option of the subsidy scheme reported to the President, one of which is the blending option, where subsidies are given to goods and others in the form of Direct Cash Assistance (BLT). This scheme, he added, is to excite people's purchasing power and ensure subsidies are right on target.

Bahlil ensured that the subsidy would be given to the right community. Currently, the data on subsidy recipients has been studied, so that the data used will be uniform.
