President Jokowi Groundbreaking BPJS Employment Office At IKN

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo conducted a groundbreaking for the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Headquarters in the National Capital (IKN) area of the Archipelago, East Kalimantan Province, Thursday, November 2.

The start of this development strengthens BPJS Employment's commitment to supporting strategic government programs, and is one of the efforts to expand the scope of participation in the region.

"The existence of the BPJS Employment office will complete the community service facilities at IKN. Adding the public's confidence not to hesitate anymore to stay at IKN because there is already social security protection from BPJS (Employment)," said the President.

The President added that the protection of employment social security is the most important thing that workers must have.

"The protection of employment social security is very important so that workers are protected from various risks, both social risks and economic risks. Moreover, currently at IKN there are many development activities being carried out simultaneously in various projects involving many workers," he added.

Meanwhile, the President Director of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, Anggoro Eko Cahyo, who accompanied the president in the activity, was proud that BPJS Ketenagakerjaan was one of the first government institutions to start the construction of his office building at IKN.

"It is an honor for BPJS Employment, given the first opportunity to support the acceleration of the development of the capital city of the archipelago. This office design has a philosophy as a 'House for All', which is reminded of the formation of a typical Kalimantan Betang House, which is democratic and sufficient to provide a shelter for all its residents. In accordance with our mandate in providing comprehensive protection for Indonesian workers," said Anggoro.

As is known, in the next few years IKN will continue to grow to become the center of government and drive the national economy. Of course, the existence of IKN will also open up many jobs in both formal and informal sectors.

Therefore, the presence of BPJS Employment at IKN is very important to be able to ensure that all workers are protected from the risk of work accidents, death, old age, and loss of employment.

Anggoro added that until now BPJS Ketenagakerjaan has protected 40.2 million active workers, including all construction workers involved in the IKN development project. By the end of 2026 BPJS Ketenagakerjaan targets to be able to protect up to 70 million workers and have fund management of IDR 1,001 trillion.

Standing on 1.19 hectares of land, the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Headquarters will be built with a concept that combines 3 main elements, namely nature, culture and humans.

The 8-story building consists of 2 building blocks united by a city forest that has a synergy with the protected forest behind it. The use of renewable materials is one of the added values in the construction of this building.

Buildings are also made often to adjust natural contours and raise the impression that the building seems to have grown from the ground where it was standing.

In line with the spirit of IKN as the green capital, the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan office building is dominated by open spaces and natural vehement corridors. This allows every room to have a natural cooling and lighting system, so as to reduce excessive energy use.

In addition, there are also several other supporting facilities including jogging tracks, open fields, amphitheater arenas and closed sports fields. The touch of culture is poured through building fin designs inspired by Dayak weaving.

The construction and transfer process of 250 employees will be divided into several stages which are expected to be completely completed by 2025.

Ending his statement, Anggoro hopes that the process of building the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan headquarters can run smoothly so that later it will be able to accelerate the achievement of universal coverage of social security, so that workers can "Gold Free Work".

"We are ready to support what you aspire to for the progress of the Nation, through the implementation of employment social security for Indonesian workers and their families, so that they can live a more prosperous life," concluded Anggoro.

On another occasion, the Head of the Cilincing BPJS Employment Branch Office, Haryani Rotua Melasari, said that the groundbreaking of the BPJS Employment Office by President Jokowi was a form of the government's seriousness in providing comprehensive employment social security protection for workers in Indonesia.

"We know, at IKN, East Kalimantan Province, there is currently an increase in project development activities there and of course it really needs a large number of workers. Therefore, it is necessary to attend BPJS Employment, to provide protection for these workers so that they work safely and anxiously because they are protected by the BPJS Employment Program," said Haryani.
