The Surge In Train Passengers Reaches 50 Percent, KAI: The Number Continues To Increase

JAKARTA - KAI's VP of Public Relations Joni Martinus said based on data on Thursday, September 28 at 15.00 WIB, long-distance train tickets were sold for 263,303 tickets. The tickets sold are for departures from Wednesday 27 September to Thursday 28 September.

The data is based on the records of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) which states that as of today, Thursday, September 28, on the Maulid holiday of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, there was a 50 percent spike in train passengers.

"Sales rose 50 percent compared to the previous week, namely 175,945 tickets. This number will continue to grow because ticket sales are still ongoing," he told reporters, Thursday, September 28.

The favorite trains for customers for the Maulid Nabi holiday period until this weekend are Argo Parahyangan (Gambir-Bandung pp) train, Airlangga train (Pasarsenen-Surabaya Pasarturi pp), Serayu train (Pasarsenen-Purwokerto pp), Sri Tanjung train (Ketapang-Ketapang pp), and others.

To accommodate customers who want to travel by train from Wednesday, September 27 to Sunday 1 October. KAI prepares around 1,120 long-distance train trips or an average of 224 trains per day," he said.

Joni said KAI reminded KAI to pay attention to the rules for luggage, namely the maximum volume is 20 kg or volume 100 dm3 with a maximum dimension of 70 cm x 48 cm x 30 cm.

Bags that exceed the weight and/or size as referred to, up to a height of 40 kg or with a volume of 200 dm3 (with a maximum dimension of 70 cm x 48 cm x 60 cm), are allowed to be carried on duty with excess baggage duties or buy extra seats.

"An additional fee for the begasi is for an exclusive class of Rp. 10,000 per kg, a business class of Rp. 6,000 per kg and an economic class of Rp. 2,000 per kg," he explained.
