Reassuring Investors, Jokowi Says Investment in IKN Will Not Be in Vain

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) assured that investment in the capital city of the archipelago (IKN), East Kalimantan, is not a wasted investment.

This ensures that investors who have invested in IKN have carried out careful calculations and calculations.

"I would like to thank the investors who have invested their capital. I think they have invested their capital here through careful calculations because this is not a wasted investment, they definitely want to make a profit," said Jokow, quoting Antara.

IKN development, said Jokowi, is not only carried out by the government, but also by the business world.

"We just want to convey to the business world that development in the capital of the archipelago is not only being carried out by the government, but the business world is also involved," said the President.

The President also requested that every month a groundbreaking procession be carried out for the construction of various projects at IKN.

Jokowi plans to come directly to IKN every month to directly inspect the development.

"Every month there must be another 'groundbreaking' and I will come here every month, and the schedule is already with the Head of the Authority (IKN)," he said.

With the laying of various first stones, Jokowi hopes that it will become a motor for accelerating IKN development. He also hopes that more facilities and infrastructure will be built at IKN, including hotels, hospitals, universities and safari parks.

"Last night we also talked about safari parks and other things that will start soon in the capital of the archipelago," said Jokowi.

This is the second hotel groundbreaking in the IKN area after Hotel Nusantara on Thursday (21/9). Apart from that, President Jokowi has also carried out groundbreaking for the PSSI National Training Center and a hospital.

Also accompanying the President on this occasion were Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir, Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, and Head of the IKN Authority Bambang Susantono.

IKN is being built on a long-term basis with a projected overall completion in 2045. The government is building IKN with a funding composition that mostly comes from private cooperation and investment. Meanwhile, funding from the APBN, based on the government's initial plan, was allocated only 20 percent of the total funding needs.

Based on data from the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu), the IKN budget allocation in the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) for 2022 to 2024 is IDR 75.5 trillion. In detail, the realization value in 2022 is IDR 5.5 trillion. Then, the allocation in the 2023 APBN is IDR 29.4 trillion and the allocation in the 2024 Draft APBN (RAPBN) is IDR 40.6 trillion.
