The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) signed a memorandum of understanding or MoU with the Korea National Ppuri Industry Center (KPIC) in the field of Human Resources Development (HR), expansion of potential, market access, as well as increasing investment and trade in Indonesia-South Korea.

The signing of the MoU carried out by the Ministry of Industry's Agency for Industrial Human Resources Development (BPSDMI) with the Korea National Ppuri Industry Center (KPIC) was facilitated by the Directorate General of Resilience, Region, and International Industrial Access (KPAII) of the Ministry of Industry.

"The MoU is expected to strengthen human resource cooperation (HR) between Indonesia and Korea, expand its potential, encourage wider and more sustainable market access for the industrial sector involved, and pave the way for increased investment and trade between the two parties," said Director General of Resilience, Regional Affairs and Access. International Industry Ministry of Industry, Eko SA Cahyanto in Jakarta, on Monday, September 18.

Eko hopes that the MoU will also be a new milestone in bilateral relations between Indonesia and Korea, as well as provide sustainable benefits for both parties and encourage stronger economic growth in the future.

"On the other hand, bilateral relations between Indonesia and South Korea are getting closer and the synergy between industries is increasing," he said.

The scope of Ppuri Technology's cooperation includes training/increasing the capacity of industrial workers and implementing standard certification of industrial human resources in Indonesia.

This collaboration aims to increase the capacity of industrial human resources in carrying out the basic manufacturing processes, including casting, molds, welding, heat treatment, metal forcing, and surface treatment.

This step will be carried out by applying next-generation processing technology, which includes injection press, precise machining, additive manufacturing, industrial films and paper processing, robots, sensors, industrial intelligence software, and engineering design.

On the same occasion, the Head of BPSDMI of the Ministry of Industry Masrokhan welcomed the cooperation with KPIC to support the development of industrial human resources in Indonesia. He said the number of competent industrial workers needs is around 682,000 people every year.

Thus, it requires support for the creation of competent industrial human resources through the implementation of vocational education and competency-based industrial training in educational units owned.

"We welcome and are grateful that the increase in KPIC has become a stakeholder who also supports the development of industrial human resources and strengthens relations between Indonesia and South Korea," he said.

Meanwhile, KPIC Chief Executive Director Kim Hyun-jung expressed his belief that this collaboration will significantly increase the competitiveness of the manufacturing sector in Indonesia, as well as support sustainable economic growth.

He also emphasized the importance of 2023 which is a 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between South Korea and Indonesia. According to him, Indonesia is the target country for KPIC's first global project with a focus on developing human resources in the basic industry in Indonesia.

Furthermore, it is also targeting the strengthening of reciprocal exchange to formulate various cooperation agendas. He hopes that this collaboration will produce positive and productive results for the main industries of the two countries.

Both sides emphasized that the closer bilateral relationship between Indonesia and South Korea has generated significant synergies between the industrial sectors of the two countries.
