Directorate General Of Human Settlements With The Directorate General Of Housing Of The Ministry Of PUPR In Collaboration To Create Huntap For Seroja Victims In Kupang

The Directorate General (Ditjen) of Cipta Karya and the Directorate General of Housing of the Ministry of PUPR are working together to complete the construction of Permanent Residential (Huntap) equipped with residential facilities for communities affected by the Seroja Tropical Cyclone disaster in Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province.

PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said that the rehabilitation and reconstruction of disaster-affected areas were not only rebuilding damaged houses. However, as an effort to rebuild new settlements that are resilient to disasters.

"The approach is to build back better, not just build with the same vulnerability to disasters, but to build better and safer than before," said Basuki in a statement received by VOI, Saturday, September 16.

Basuki explained that one of the support for handling post-disaster settlements in Kupang Regency, NTT was carried out in Saukibe Village and Buttock Village. The Permanent Residential Development is a special house (rusus) with the technology of a Healthy Simple Instant Home (RISHA) that has been completed in Saukibe Village as many as 124 units on an area of 3.09 hectares. Furthermore, in Buttock Village as many as 45 units on an area of 1.3 hectares.

Meanwhile, to increase the comfort of residents, the huntap development area is also equipped with supporting infrastructure by the Directorate General of Human Settlements of the Ministry of PUPR. For example, a network of clean water and communal sanitation (SPAL-DT), environmental roads and drainage, safety fences, home electricity connections, public street lighting (PJU), trash cans, and other public facilities as well as social facilities such as community hall and prayer facilities.

Director of Settlement Area Development as Head of the Post-Disaster Management Team for NTT and NTB for Human Settlements Wahyu Kusumusanto said the government will continue to strive to provide safe and sustainable residential infrastructure, adjusting to the needs of the community.

"With the construction of this residential infrastructure, it is hoped that people affected by the Seroja cyclone can occupy the huntap with a sense of security and comfort," said Wahyu Kusumusanto.

Just so you know, the construction of huntap support facilities in Buttock Village and Saukibe Village will begin on June 9, 2021 and has been completed on August 31, 2022, with the APBN budget of IDR 33 billion. Huntap has been occupied since September 2022 and has been connected to the drinking water and sanitation network.

"In addition, the community can resume social, religious, and social activities using community hall facilities and prayer facilities," concluded Wahyu.
