China Proves Xi Jinping's Promise To Buy ASEAN Agricultural Products Worth IDR 2.3 Quadrillion

JAKARTA - Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang mentioned President Xi Jinping's promise. He said Xi Jinping had promised to buy agricultural products from ASEAN countries with a value of up to 150 billion US dollars or equivalent to Rp2,295 trillion or Rp2.3 Quadrillion.

This promise was conveyed by Li Qiang in the plenary meeting of the 26th ASEAN-China Summit. The meeting took place today at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Senayan, Jakarta. The meeting was chaired by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and attended by leaders of other ASEAN member countries.

Xi Jinping's promise was made in 2021, commemorating China-ASEAN economic dialogue. At that time, Xi Jinping said that for 5 years starting from 2021, China would import agricultural products from ASEAN worth 150 billion US dollars.

"Now, until now, these products worth more than 55 billion US dollars have been imported faster than expected," said Li Qiang.

On this occasion, Li Qiang said China was committed to mutual benefit in cooperation to become more productive. That way, he said, market opportunities will be well established.

Chinese and ASEAN see each other's development as a profitable opportunity. We keep the market open to each other," he said.

Last year, our two-way trading volume reached more than 970 billion US dollars and more than doubled its volume a decade ago. We have been the main trading partners with each other for three consecutive years," he continued.
